There is no limit on the use of materials in the reading room.
To take these out, you need a library card. Those people who live, work or study in Kobe City are eligible to receive a card. You need to bring an ID card which includes your name and place of residence to the registration desk. Your library card is valid for ten years and can be used at other computer linked Kobe Municipal Libraries.
When you have found the book you want to borrow, bring your book(s) and library card to the check-out desk. You can borrow a maximum of ten books for two weeks.
Bring the books to the return desk, you don't need your card. You can return the books at any Kobe Municipal Libraries. When the library is closed, please put them in the book-post at the entrance of the library.
The loan period may be extended if the materials are not required by other readers. In this case you will need to present the materials and your card at the return desk before an extension will be granted.
You are able to reserve a book if it has already been borrowed by another reader. Please fill in a form at the service counter. If you want to suggest some books for addition to the library, fill in an order form with the details of the books. We will arrange to purchase the books if possible.
When you cannot find the book you are looking for or when you do not know how to search, please feel free to ask a staff at the desk.
Copy service is limited by the copyright law. After filling in an application form, please apply to the desk.
If you change your place of residence, telephone number etc., or lose your card, please inform us as soon as possible.
We offer a reading-service and mailing-books-service for physically handicapped people. For family libraries and so on, we provide a lending-out-service.
